Understanding CBD Oil Versus Truly Whole Food Raw Hemp Oil Extracts

One of the most trending of all nutritional supplements, CBD oil, is little understood. What precisely is it? How is it made? Is it the same as marijuana extract? Is it, essentially, hemp oil?

First, let us make it clear that this is not the kind of hemp that makes people habituated or ‘high.’ This is industrial hemp, the kind used to make rope, sails, paper, and clothing.

Yet, how is it processed to make a final supplement known as CBD. It begins naturally enough, with extraction through CO2 under pressure. Yet, by definition “CBD is essentially a concentrated solvent extract…” According to ApeksSupercritical in order to “isolate” CBD the raw material, which is CO2-extracted resin, must be “distilled.” However, before this, it must undertake a process known as “winterization. It is winterization which involves heavy processing manifested by dissolving the oil mass in 200 proof chemical alcohol. This is then vigorously mixed, followed by freezing.

After freezing, it is filtered. This is, incredibly, to remove many invaluable compounds that for some reason the CBD oil purveyors disregard: the waxes, resins, sterols, fixed oils, and lipids. All these are synergistic to the CBD components, and thus through this much is lost.

Next, the unfathomable occurs, which is that the filtered oil is aggressively heated: all to drive off the alcohol. As if this isn’t sufficiently destructive the remaining oil is further refined, this time through distillation, which involves some 250 degrees-plus temperature. This is in order to fully isolate various molecules, essentially, the production of refined CBD.

Another method is the use of hydrocarbons. This includes highly toxic components such as butane, propane, and hexane. The hexane is a liquid, while the others are applied in their gas phase. The gases are actually pumped into the raw material in order to refine it, while also extracting the CBD. Butane, propane, and hexane are highly toxic and are proven carcinogens. No one should consume hemp-based oils extracted with these harsh chemicals. The fact is hemp oil is only ultimately effective in the raw state. All these processes corrupt its medicinal properties to the extreme. Further, all the processing adds to the cost, which the consumer must bear: all for a potentially toxic product with reduced efficacy.

All such processing greatly weaken the end product. It is not possible to destroy so many components without diminishing the powers of the final supplement. Moreover, with heat, alcohol, and petrochemical solvents all the proteins are denatured. As well, the delicate terpenes, including the CBD, are molecularly corrupted.

This demonstrates the value of truly unprocessed sources of hemp oil, those simply extracted with CO2 under pressure. Known as supercritical extraction, through this method all the components remain raw, and no molecules are damaged or lost.

Such wholesome, unprocessed, solvent-free supplements are available. However, only a few companies provide them, for instance, those found here. All such supplements contain the hemp oil in a raw state with the full complement of waxes, sterols, fixed fats, essential oils, terpenes, protein molecules, CBD-like molecules, and more. It is said “CBD-like,” because by definition CBD oil is solvent extracted.

The final product is greatly depleted and corrupted. Normally, hemp oil is a rich dark-green color a representation of its naturally occurring chlorophyll and antioxidant levels. In the image above it can be seen that all this is lost. Clearly, the butane greatly oxidizes the end product. The butane merely strips the cannabis bulk of CBD and a percentage of terpenes, leaving the rest behind and destroy a multitude of molecules in the process. Note the authors of Keytocannabis.com there is virtually “always a trace of butane” left in the final product. Who wants their herbs for health purposes plus a vile carcinogen? Propane can also be relied up, creating so-called propane hash oil, although in the case of industrial hemp it is not actually hashish. However, it, too, is carcinogenic.

The benefits of whole food, raw hemp oil are extensive. These benefits, as published in the Hemp Oil Miracle (same author, Knowledge House Publishers), are as follows:

  • supports a healthy all-over response against inflammation
  • supports the body’s ability to deal with pain (this is especially true of the kind that is combined with wild, raw oregano CO2 extract)
  • supports the body’s response for excess fluid pressure in the eyes
  • supports the body’s capacity for normalization of nerve circuits (this is why it is commonly used for epileptic support and also for chronic neurological disorders)
  • supports the body’s ability to fight and reverse addictions
  • supports a healthy nervous system response against anxiety, depression, and stress
  • being rich in natural waxes and terpenes, the whole food form alone supports a healthy digestive response
  • supports a healthy response for migraines (when combined with wild greens and ginger), and also for insomnia, the latter especially when combined with hops and cinnamon

In this book the focus is exclusively on raw, whole food hemp oil supplements, including those combined with synergistic herbs and spices. Moreover, a special type of raw hemp oil is available unmatched by any other. This is micellized hemp combined with resins of raw spruce and pine. Highly potent, it can be taken as drops under the tongue or added to smoothies or juices.

Therefore, for your better health select only fully uncompromised hemp extracts which are never heated: never treated with solvents and chemicals. Avoid all heavily distilled types and isolates. Particularly, avoid all hemp oil extracts treated with petrochemicals such as butane gas and hexane. In one case the employees of an entire health food store in Florida were sickened by such an extract, marketed as CBD oil, the sickness representing as nausea and severe migraines. This was traced to residues of butane gas. Yet, incredibly, untainted hemp oil is precisely a remedy for both these conditions.

Be cautious in your hemp extract selection. Make sure it is unprocessed and 100% raw. Don’t pay extra for supplements of inferior quality and which may be harmful to your health. Instead, rely exclusively on hemp supplements made without harsh solvents.
